Men's HD Coastal Fishing Jacket
When the front rolls through and the rain comes in sideways, the HD Coastal Fishing Jacket is the shell you want between you and the weather. Built on a heavy-duty TORAY® 3-layer waterproof-breathable fabric, it delivers exceptionally high waterproofness and wind resistance for the coldest, wettest days on the coast — over waders in the surf or running the boat in a storm.
The details are pure saltwater: adjustable neoprene cuffs seal the sleeve and stop water from migrating up your arm when you're landing fish, a 3-point adjustable hood with integrated cordlocks locks down in the wind, and articulated arms keep your casting motion free. Storage is everywhere you need it — two fleece-lined handwarmer pockets, three zippered exterior pockets and an interior zip pocket — plus a kill-switch D-ring at the wearer's right.
Sized to go over a mid-layer like the Windward Thermal Hoody without binding through the shoulders, with articulated arms so a full casting motion doesn't pull the hem or cuffs. S–XXL — order your usual Southerly outerwear size.
Rinse in fresh water after every saltwater outing and hang to dry, out of direct sun. Machine wash cold on gentle with a technical-fabric wash when the shell stops beading; no fabric softener, tumble dry low to reactivate the DWR. Keep the zippers clear of sand and salt.
Heavy duty, by design
For the days you'd rather not be out there.
The Squall is the jacket our guides wear most days. The HD Coastal is for the other days — the January norther, sideways rain on the run back across the bay, standing in the surf in December. A heavier TORAY® 3-layer shell, neoprene cuffs that actually seal, a hood that locks down in the wind, and pockets that stay dry when the deck doesn't.
The shell
Heavy-duty TORAY® 3-layer waterproof-breathable
A heavier face fabric than anything else we make, bonded to a TORAY® waterproof-breathable membrane. Exceptionally high waterproofness and wind resistance for the coldest, wettest days on the coast — over waders in the surf or running the boat through a front.
Sealed at the wrist
Adjustable neoprene cuffs
Landing a fish means your hands go in the water. Neoprene cuffs cinch tight to the wrist and stop water migrating up your sleeve, so your mid-layer stays dry from the first fish to the last.
Storage that stays dry
Two fleece-lined hand-warmers, three zippered exterior pockets, one interior zip
Phone, pliers, leader spools and a lure box, each with its own zippered pocket. The hand-warmers are fleece-lined for the ride out; the interior zip pocket keeps a wallet or truck key off the deck.
Built for the boat
Kill-switch D-ring, 3-point hood, articulated arms
A dedicated D-ring at the wearer's right for the kill-switch lanyard, a 3-point adjustable hood with integrated cordlocks that stays put at 40 mph, and articulated patterning through the arms for a full casting range of motion — with the YKK VT10 center front zipper and storm flap keeping spray out.
HD Coastal vs. Squall
Which jacket do you need?
If you fish year-round and want one shell that does everything, the Squall is still the pick — lighter, stretchier, and the one our guides reach for most days. The HD Coastal is the step up for cold, wet, windy days: a heavier shell, sealed cuffs and more dry storage, at the cost of some stretch and weight.
